Chateau la Cardonne lies just north of St. Estephe in Médoc and is an estate first mentioned as early as 1769. From 1932 the château has held the designation cru bourgeois, and in 1973 the estate was purchased by Domaines Barons de Rothschild, the family company that among other things owns the iconic Ch. Lafite-Rothschild. They replanted and restored the vineyards, and not least put their stamp on the label on the bottles.

In 1990 the estate was sold to Guy Charloux, who built an enormous underground cellar. Last year the château achieved the designation cru bourgeois exceptionnel.

Now their 2015 is here. Made from five percent cabernet franc, 45 percent cabernet sauvignon and 50 percent merlot. A wine that is perfectly mature and ready to drink, but will surely keep for another ten years. And at 280 kroner, an absurdly good red wine buy.
