Weekly Selection: Château du Hureau Lisagathe

Kategori

Weekly Selection

An aroma of forest, crowberry and juicy dark blueberries. With hints of thyme, porcini and bog bilberry.

Château du Hureau from Saumur in France's Loire Valley has conjured up an utterly wonderful red wine made from one hundred percent cabernet franc. Dense and juicy in the fruit. And with a complex autumnal aroma, this wine shows cabernet franc at its most seductive. There are more complex versions blended with other grapes in Bordeaux, but when it comes to a pure franc, Lisagathe is in a class of its own. Especially when we consider the price and value for money.

Today, Philippe and his daughter Agathe Vatan run this biodynamic 20-hectare estate dating from the 1800s, which has been in the family's possession for many generations.

Unfortunately, only 120 magnums of this brilliant wine are being released. So it will be first come, first served.
