Weekly Selection: Lopez de Heredia Blanco 2013

Kategori

Weekly Selection

López de Heredia sits just outside the town of Haro, in the small railway quarter of Barrio de la Estación, alongside some of the most respected names in Rioja and Spanish wine.

Today, López de Heredia continues to make wine much as it did 150 years ago, in a region where modernity is steadily gaining ground. The Viña Tondonia vineyard accounts for eighty per cent of the estate's production, and was originally acquired by the founder himself, Don Rafael López de Heredia.

Both the red and white wines spend up to ten years ageing in oak, and only grow better with time. The white is the rarer of the two, and its price reflects that, more than double that of the red. It has now finally arrived at Vinmonopolet, in the brilliant and cool 2013 vintage. Availability is limited, however, and it can only be found in select stores and through the special order range. To buy a bottle, you'll need to call Vinmonopolet's customer service, or stop by one of the stores that carry it.
