A juicy, sweetly fruited and delicate pinot noir that pairs perfectly with the smoky flavours from the barbecue.
It is made by the Oregon producer Averæn, and the grapes for Violet Hill come from the mountains of the Rogue Valley in southern Oregon, where the vineyards sit at 300 to 500 metres above sea level. That is an advantage, because it is much warmer there than in Willamette, where the producer is otherwise based.
Aged in steel alone, Violet Hill is an easy-drinking Pinot with light tannins and no fuss. Right now it is among the best Pinot buys from the US.
